Mactablet - well a Modbook about to order

I'm ordering a Modbook. Since it's the closest to a Mactablet we can get at the moment I'm going to order one. It will probably be the first into Australia. I'm going to have to route it via a friend in the US as they won't ship to Oz.

Not exactly a tablet but ultra mobile anyway

The Fujitsu P1610 is certainly a mobile tablet solution but this business trip I decided to travel even lighter. It was only a day trip so I thought I'd see if I could do it all on my phone - Nokia N95 with stowaway bluetooth keyboard. It worked fine.

I answered a few emails as they came in. Shot a couple of pics of the airport lounge and posted them to a blog. Blogged this entry (using the email feature, although I could have done it on the web as the N95 has quite a decent browser and I'm on a 3G data plan), and responded to an emailed pdf doc as I can read that on the phone too.

Wallace Lau reviews the Dell Latitude XT:
http://www.tabletpcreview.com/default.asp?newsID=1074

Big problem is: he's not a tablet user. He admits as much and says he's 90% laptop, 10% tablet user. I actually put it more like 99% standard laptop user. Why do they let virgin tablet users review tablets? The only perspective he can give is the unit as a standard laptop (so speed, screen, that sort of thing) and so we don't really get to know what sort of tablet it is?!

Petition to apple for a tablet

Found this site:
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/tablet_mac/

It's a bit old now but appears to be still active. Can't hurt.

EDIT: just saw the stats about the petition. It's been running for 760 something days and has 4000 signatures.

Test of email post

test1

Well the rumours are over. Macbook Air is the next big thing for apple.

Ultra-light: maybe, 3 pounds aint so light to me. It's not really a UMPC either for my 2 cents. 13.3 inch screen. OK, maybe sexy for engineering types as it's amazingly thin but it's still fairly big, fairly heavy and fairly low powered. No user accessable battery either which means when it runs out find the power socket or suck it up.

Migration from wordpress

Work is underway to migrate all old posts from the wordpress app we used to use for the blog. Hopefully it'll be complete soon.
