quick video of ubuntu's first boot on the LG P100

video

Sound, touchpad, wireless and bluetooth all working out of the box. Nvidia card says it needs a driver and I'm going to have to download something to get tochscreen to work but pretty happy so far.

That P100 seems to go through its shares of operating systems... I really have a problem with Microsoft interfaces, and Vistas handwriting recognition does not really win me over. Maybe Ubuntu is the way to go? Let us readers know what the secret touchscreen ingredient is.
But then again, I've heard good things about Windows 7 so far. Do you care to give it a go?

Comment on my previous post: I accidentally posted a comment on your OS X installation with the wrong login (Mogui). Just so you don't get confused. :-)

Now it feels like I'm spamming... But I did a little digging, have you installed evtouch? See this helpful thread on the topic.

I have my P100 for 10 months, using Debian as my main operating system. My problems are:
- Touchscreen, needed to use a patched fujitsu driver I found on the net. Things get messed up when using dual screens or when I rotate it.
- Touchpad, needed to use a patched synaptics driver I also found on the net
- LCD keys, can't get them to wotk
- LCD microphone, can't get it to work

Since I rarely use the touchscreen (will never buy a tablet laptop again), it's not that much of a problem.

Which version of Ubuntu did you use?

I tried it last year with HardyHeron and got the same issues as RJLouro.

I didn't want to go through the dual boot process (too chicken to risk messing up my HDD's mbr) so I installed Ubuntu in a SD Card - run livecd, pop-in a SD card, install Ubuntu in the SD card, patch one of the linux boot files (can't remember which one) before reboot.

Then I proceed to try to boot from the SD card. Didn't work because the SD slot in the P100 is not recognized in the bios as a boot device (if there's a way to do this, please post it because I went as far as going through the list of boot devices and none worked). So I used a USB adapter for the SD card and booted off the USB. That one worked.

I might try windows 7 but to tell the truth after putting it on the Samsung Q1 I got over it really quickly. I couldn't even force the vista drivers to work on it so I had very little functionality, and I couldn't even get programs to install! I know there's a fix around for this now but I've moved on. I'm really enjoying the dual boot into Ubuntu and Vista. This install of ubuntu is awesome.

Hey Jan, thanks for the link. I'll have a go. I live and die using tablet functionality which is why I've retained vista. I actually think the vista handwriting is really well implemented especially in Onenote.

I used this to install Ubuntu:

http://wubi-installer.org/

it automatically downloads a version (not sure which one) and makes it super simple to setup a dual boot with vista.

Hey Condorcet. Have been following your blog for a while now. Great site! Actually I was wondering if anyone got the auto-rotating feature to work on the LG P100 under Vista. (On my machine, it is enabled in the menu of the Fn icon, but it doesn't work).

I've never got the auto rotate to work even with the updated graphics drivers from LG. I have anabled it in the FN control panel but no luck. I can manually rotate it of course through the saem control panel or by using the FN and rotate hot keys on the beazel and that's fine.
